ABSTRACT

SUMMARY: The 12C6+ heavy ion beam irradiation can cause bystander effects. The inflammatory cytokines, endocrine hormones and apoptotic proteins may be involved in 12C6+ irradiation-induced bystander effects. This study characterized the protective effects and mechanisms of Huangqi decoction (HQD) against 12C6+ radiation induced bystander effects. Wistar rats were randomly divided into control, 12C6+ heavy ion irradiation model, and high-dose/medium-dose/low-dose HQD groups. HE staining assessed the pathological changes of brain and kidney. Peripheral blood chemical indicators as well as inflammatory factors and endocrine hormones were detected. Apoptosis was measured with TUNEL. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression was determined with real-time PCR and Western blot.Irradiation induced pathological damage to the brain and kidney tissues. After irradiation, the numbers of white blood cells (WBC) and monocyte, and the expression of interleukin (IL)-2, corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and PCNA decreased. The damage was accompanied by increased expression of IL-1β, IL-6, corticosterone (CORT) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) as well as increased neuronal apoptosis. These effects were indicative of radiation-induced bystander effects. Administration of HQD attenuated the pathological damage to brain and kidney tissues, and increased the numbers of WBC, neutrophils, lymphocyte and monocytes, as well as the expression of IL-2, CRH and PCNA. It also decreased the expression of IL-1β, IL-6, CORT and ACTH as well as neuronal apoptosis. HQD exhibits protective effects against 12C6+ radiation-induced bystander effects. The underlying mechanism may involve the promotion of the production of peripheral blood cells, inhibition of inflammatory factors and apoptosis, and regulation of endocrine hormones.


La irradiación con haz de iones pesados 12C6+ puede provocar efectos secundarios. Las citoquinas inflamatorias, las hormonas endocrinas y las proteínas apoptóticas pueden estar involucradas en los efectos secundarios inducidos por la irradiación 12C6+. Este estudio caracterizó los efectos y mecanismos protectores de la decocción de Huangqi (HQD) contra los efectos externos inducidos por la radiación 12C6+. Las ratas Wistar se dividieron aleatoriamente en grupos control, modelo de irradiación de iones pesados 12C6+ y grupos de dosis alta/media/baja de HQD. La tinción con HE evaluó los cambios patológicos del cerebro y el riñón. Se detectaron indicadores químicos de sangre periférica, así como factores inflamatorios y hormonas endocrinas. La apoptosis se midió con TUNEL. La expresión del antígeno nuclear de células en proliferación (PCNA) se determinó mediante PCR en tiempo real y transferencia Western blot. La irradiación indujo daños patológicos en los tejidos cerebrales y renales. Después de la irradiación, disminuyó el número de glóbulos blancos (WBC) y monocitos, y la expresión de interleucina (IL)-2, hormona liberadora de corticotropina (CRH) y PCNA. El daño estuvo acompañado por una mayor expresión de IL-1β, IL-6, corticosterona (CORT) y hormona adrenocorticotrópica (ACTH), así como un aumento de la apoptosis neuronal. Estas alteraciones fueron indicativas de efectos inducidos por la radiación. La administración de HQD atenuó el daño patológico a los tejidos cerebrales y renales, y aumentó el número de leucocitos y monocitos, así como la expresión de IL-2, CRH y PCNA. También disminuyó la expresión de IL-1β, IL-6, CORT y ACTH, así como la apoptosis neuronal. HQD exhibe mecanismos protectores contra los efectos externos inducidos por la radiación 12C6+. El mecanismo subyacente puede implicar la promoción de la producción de células sanguíneas periféricas, la inhibición de factores inflamatorios y la apoptosis y la regulación de hormonas endocrinas.

ABSTRACT

Abstract@#Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is the most common spinal deformity. With increasing incidence in recent years, it has become an important public health problem threatening the health of adolescents. Adolescence is an important period for accelerated human growth and development, and endocrine hormones will change significantly during this period. Studies have shown that melatonin, estrogen, vitamin D and leptin are closely related to the production and development of scoliosis. Exploring the role of endocrine hormones in the pathogenesis of AIS can provide a reference for the prevention and treatment of AIS.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To discuss the clinical efficacy of modified Zuoguiwan on postmenopausal osteoarthritis of knee (KOA) with deficiency of liver and kidney based on theory of syndrome differentiation and treatment of kidney, and its effect on endocrine hormone and cartilage metabolism.Method:One hundred and forty patients of KOA were randomly divided into control group (70 cases) and observation group (70 cases) by random number table. Patients in two group got glucosamine hydrochloride capsule for 12 weeks, 1 capsule/time, 2 times/day, and those with obvious pain was added celecoxib capsules for 4 weeks, 0.2 g/time, 1 time/day. The control group took Kang Zengsheng pills orally. patients in observation group was also added with modified Zuoguiwan for 12 weeks, 1 dose/day. Before and after treatment, pain level during activity and rest by visual simulation of pain (VAS) were scored. And visual scale of osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) of Western Ontario and McMaster University, knee osteoarthritis severity index (ISOA), deficiency of liver and kidney, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were scored. And levels of serum estradiol (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were scored.Result:Scores of VAS during activity and rest in observation group were lower than those in control group (P<0.01). The total score of WOMAC, scores of pain, stiffness, joint function, deficiency of liver and kidney, SAS and SDS were all lower than those in control group (P<0.01). Total score of ISOA, symptoms and signs, maximum walking distance, daily life were lower than those in control group (P<0.01). Levels of E2, FSH, LH, TNF-α, IL-1β and MMP-3 were lower than those in control group (P<0.01). Level of TGF-β was higher than that in control group (P<0.01). And total clinical effective rate in observation group was 89.23%(58/65), which was higher than 74.60%(47/63) in control group (χ2=4.793, P<0.05).Conclusion:Modified Zuoguiwan can obviously alleviate symptoms, improve joint function, regulate the level of endocrine hormone, relieve anxiety and depression, regulate the environment of cartilage metabolism, inhibit inflammatory reaction, and improve the patients' ability of daily life and clinical efficacy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the possible mechanism of in vivo production and congregation of macroprolactinemia (M-PRL) . Methods 50 cases of hyperprolactinemia(HPRL) ,50 cases of M-PRL and 25 healthy persons were selected as the HPRL group , M-PRL group and control group respectively .The chemiluminescence method was adopted to detect the levels of serum hormones and thyroid hormones .Then the detection results were statistically analyzed .Results The levels of serum testosterone ,sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG) ,thyroglobulin antibody and thyroid peroxidase in the M-PRL and HPRL groups were significantly higher than those in the control group .Serum estradiol levels in the M-PRL and HPRL group were lower than those in control group ,the difference was statistically significant (P<0 .05) .Serum Prog level of the M-PRL group was lower than that of the control group ,the difference was statistically significant (P<0 .05) .However the levels of serum testosterone ,estradiol ,luteinizing hormone(LH) ,follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) and SHBG ,and LH/FSH ratio had no statistical difference between the M-PRL group and HPRL group(P>0 .05) .Conclusion Certain degrees of sex hormones abnormality and autoimmune abnormality may exist in the patients with M-PRL .

ABSTRACT

To study the effects of AÇaí(Euterpe oleracea) on lipid metabolism, immune substances and endocrine hormone level in rats with deficiency-heat and deficiency-cold syndrome. SD rats were divided into blank control group, deficiency-heat model group, deficiency-heat & Phellodendri Cortex group, deficiency-heat & AÇaí high dose and low dose groups, deficiency-cold model group, deficiency-cold & Cinnamomi Cortex group, deficiency-cold & AÇaí high dose and low dose groups. The rats received intramuscular injection of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (0.35 mg) or hydrocortisone sodium succinate (20 mg) for 21 days to set up deficiency-heat models and deficiency-cold models. Then the changes in fatmetabolism levels (FFA, LPL, HL) and immune indexes (IgG, IgM, C3 and C4) were detected by colorimeter; and the levels of endocrine hormone indexes (CORT, E2 and T) were detected by radioimmunoassay. The levels of FFA, LPL and HL in serum were reduced (P<0.01 or P<0.001); levels of IgG, IgM and C3 in serum were increased (P<0.05 or P<0.001); level of CORT in serum was increased (P<0.05) and the level of E2, E2/T in serum were reduced in the AÇaí high dose group (P<0.05). The effect of high dose AÇaí on fat metabolism was not obvious in deficiency-cold models, but the levels of IgG, IgM, C3 and CORT in serum were increased (P<0.05 or P<0.001). AÇaí was showed the same effect trend with Phellodendri Cortex in adjusting the levels of deficiency-heat rats; but unlike Cinnamomi Cortex, AÇaí was showed no obvious effect in adjusting the levels of deficiency-cold rats. In this experiment, homogeneous comparison and heterogeneous disproof were used to verify the cold nature of Çaí.

Objective To investigate the effect of Gardiner bacteria infection on preterm delivery and changes of endocrine hor-mone levels.Methods Application of Gardiner bacteria fluorescent marker detection kit in 120 cases of suspected Gardiner bacteria infection pregnant women with immunofluorescence assay,and the levels of serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH),luteinizing hormone (LH),estradiol (E2),progesterone (P)were measured at the same time,90 cases of non maternal Gardiner bacteria infec-tion were enrolled as control.Results After the treatment,98 cases of pregnant women with Gardiner bacteria infection should ex-perienced premature delivery (24-37 week),accounted for 81.67%,compared with the normal pregnant women were statistically significant (P 0.05),E2 increased,P decreased,changed significantly (P <0.05 ).Conclusion The probability of premature delivery in women infected with Gardiner bacteria is significantly higher than that of normal pregnant women,at the same time the secretion of hormone changes,so dealing with pre pregnancy and early pregnancy should carry owt Gardiner bacteria examination.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the change of endocrine, cAMP and potential mechanism in asthenia cold syndrome rats. Method The rats were randomly divided into normal group and asthenia cold model group. The model group were treated with intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone for 14 days, and the normal group with NS. The content of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and adenylate cyclase (AC), triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), dopamine (rT3), cortisol (COR), cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) was detected by radioimmunoassay (RIA). The content of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) was detected by chemiluminescence. Result The content of T3, T4, rT3, COR, cAMP were decreased, the activity of AC was decreased, the conent of ATP was increased. Conclution The function of the endocrine system was suppressed in asthenia cold rats, which can down-regulate cAMP and lead to asthenia cold syndrome.

ABSTRACT

The relationship of the flow velocity of ovarian artery to the follicular growth and genital endocrine hormone was observed in 36 normal and 32 infertile women by transvaginal color Doppler imaging(TVCD). The result showed that before and after ovulation, the peak flow velocity occurred in 87 % normal women i the diestolic flow waveforms had high amplitude with low impedance, the diameters of the follicles were large, the blood E2 and LH increased and attained the peak values. However, during the time of early follicular development and late stage of luteum, the diastolic flow waveforms had low amplitude with high impedance and the blood levels of E2 and LH were low. This suggests that a close relationship exists in the flow velocity and waveform of ovarian artery to the follicular development and genital endocrine hormone. In most cases of the infertile group, the diastolic flow of ovarian arteries showed with low amplilude with high impedance > there were no mature follicle with irregular change of ovarian steriods. The study indicats that this technique may forecast the time of ovulation and investigate the causes of infertility.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of auricular acupuncture with that of hormone substitution on perimenopause syndrome patients to study the mechanism of auricular therapy.Methods Totally 68 female cases were randomized into the auricular acupuncture group and hormone group,34 cases in each.The auricular acupuncture group was given electro-acupuncture on Neifenmi(CD18),Ovarium,and Uterus;and the hormone group was given Tibolone.Before and after treatment,record Kupperman score and determine serum estradiol(E2),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)and luteotropic hormone(LH)respectively.Results After treatment,the Kupperman scores of both groups were decreased,the level of E2 increased obviously,FSH and LH decreased,the difference was significant(P0.05).Conclusion The auricular therapy can effectively relieve the perimenopause syndrome and improve the reproductive endocrine function of perimenopause females.
